On January 2nd, we were notified by the Township of Selwyn to immediately cease all use of the pickleball/tennis courts and multi-sports buildings.  We contacted the township and were informed that they had received a complaint in November about the use of the structures for tennis and pickleball.

 

The township has determined that despite the fact the property is zoned for sports and recreation, we cannot use these structures as they deem them not safe for this purpose.   We offered to make any necessary changes to address their concerns, but the township refused to consider any alternative to a complete and immediate shutdown. This shutdown affects the pickleball/tennis courts and multi-sport buildings.

 

As we have a site plan application under review for our future plans for the property, the township has placed a holding provision on a portion of the property and will not allow any construction or remediation of the structures until this application is processed.

 

Unfortunately, this leaves us with no other option but to comply with the order and cease all activities at this time.   In the interim, all bookings will be cancelled, and members will receive a refund for any future unfulfilled bookings. The amount owed to each member will be determined and processed by the end of January.

 

This turn of events comes as a complete surprise to us, as we have been using the structures for baseball, soccer, lacrosse, and other sports for over three years without any objection or incident.   We are disheartened and regret the disappointment and inconvenience this will cause to our valued members.
